When making your way to Provincetown this year, stop by Harbor Hotel for a unique perspective on our historical town. From the museums to our beautiful beaches and whale watching, Provincetown is a great getaway for your inner history buff and perfect for your next relaxing vacation. Visit the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum and get to know our town just like the Pilgrims on the Mayflower did when first landing in the New World in Provincetown. General Manager Sean Archer gave us a few tips on his take on Provincetown and how to take full advantage of all this town has to offer during your stay.
Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, General Manager Sean Archer of Harbor Hotel Provincetown started his career in the hotel and hospitality industry around the age of 17. Growing up, Archer would watch the misadventures of the staff and guests of the St. Gregory Hotel on the television show, Hotel. This show fascinated him about the situations of what happened in the hotel and service industry, and from there he was hooked. We delighted to have him at Harbor Hotel here in Provincetown.
Most of Archer’s time is spent preparing rooms and up-keeping the hotel maintenance wise. Getting the rooms where they need to be before guests arrive, as well as training and managing his colleagues are among the main objectives for the General Manager. When asked what a typical week is like in the shoes as the Harbor Hotel GM, Archer replied, “There is not really a typical week. Each day/week is different. The one thing that is typical I would say is that I am always available for our guests and our team if they need anything”.
Archer loves music and is a dance music DJ & producer in his spare time. If wandering around Provincetown looking for a place to grab a drink or bite to eat, you are most likely to find Archer at the local 1620 Brewhouse or Mac’s Seafood restaurant for some sushi and beer.
Where is your favorite spot on property?
“The fire pit. What a view!”
Do you have any advice for people who visit your hotel?
“Embrace the history that Provincetown has to offer. America started here, so try something different and let Provincetown take you all over.”
So take General Manager Sean Archer’s advice and visit Provincetown and the Harbor Hotel because you have to let life be an adventure and if you don’t experience it while you can then you aren’t truly living.
